Privacy Policy
WhatWear · Last updated: 17 July 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how WhatWear ("we", "us", or "the app") collects, uses, and protects your information when you use the app. By using WhatWear, you agree to the practices described here.
1. Information We Collect
We collect only what is needed to run the app and provide its features:
- Account information — your email address and authentication credentials, used to create and secure your account.
- Wardrobe content — photos of clothing items and the details you add (categories, tags, wear logs) so we can build and manage your closet.
- Usage data — wear logs, streaks, and activity within the app that power features like statistics and recommendations.
- Device & session data — basic device and session information used to keep your account secure and let you manage active sessions.
2. How We Use Your Information
- To provide, maintain, and improve the app's features.
- To store and organize your wardrobe and activity across your devices.
- To authenticate you and keep your account secure.
- To respond to support requests and communicate important updates.
3. Camera & Photos
WhatWear requests access to your camera and photo library only so you can add images of your clothing items. Images are used solely to display and manage your wardrobe. We do not access your camera or photos for any other purpose.
4. How We Store & Protect Your Data
Your data is stored on secure servers, and access is restricted to what is required to operate the app. We use industry-standard measures to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to safeguard your data against unauthorized access.
Image hosting. Photos you add to your wardrobe are stored using a third-party file-hosting provider (UploadThing) and are served over the internet through unique, hard-to-guess links. These image links are publicly accessible: anyone who has a specific link can view that image without signing in. The links are not listed or shared publicly by the app, and we do not disclose them to third parties, but you should treat wardrobe photos as content that is not fully private. Please avoid uploading images that contain sensitive personal information, other people, documents, or anything you would not want to be viewable by someone with the link. You can delete any image at any time from within the app, which removes it from your wardrobe.
5. Sharing of Information
We do not sell your personal information. We do not share your data with third parties except as needed to operate the app (for example, secure hosting and infrastructure providers) or when required by law.
6. Data Retention
We keep your information for as long as your account is active. You may request deletion of your account and associated data at any time by contacting us, after which your data will be removed within a reasonable period.
7. Your Rights
- Access, update, or correct the information in your account.
- Delete your wardrobe items, activity, or entire account.
- Request a copy of the data we hold about you.
8. Children's Privacy
WhatWear is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can remove it.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the app after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
